Global oilfield services heavyweight SLB has been awarded a major contract to run activities across a series of offshore fields operated by Petrobras in Brazil.
SLB will carry out integrated services to oversee the construction of over 100 wells primarily at Petrobras’ deepwater fields in the Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo basins using advanced drilling, cementing and drilling fluids technologies on up to nine rigs.
Services may also include work at other Petrobras-operated fields outside the pre-salt province, including exploration wells.
According to SLB, operations in the environmentally sensitive northern equatorial margin, where Petrobras is vying to secure a coveted licence to spud up to 15 wells by 2029, are also planned.
The three-year contract is due to commence in April 2025, with much of the technology and equipment to be deployed to be sourced locally. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“This contract builds on our existing work with Petrobras across its offshore basins and introduces new technologies that enhance both operational and environmental efficiency,” said Wallace Pescarini, SLB president of the offshore Atlantic basin.
